"Advent Makes Third Latin American Buy This Month"

Advent International has acquired Frango Assado, a Brazil-based operator of highway restaurants, for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition was the sixth Latin American restaurant chain acquired by Advent in the past two years. Advent has formed a new company, International Meal, to hold these investments. In addition to Frango Assado, Advent has acquired Dominican airport operator Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI and Brazil home-improvement retailer Quero-Quero in the past month.

International Finance Corporation has committed US$30 million to Avigo SME Fund III, a private equity fund managed by India-based Avigo Capital Partners targeting a total of US$300 million in commitments. US-based Providence Equity Partners (PEP) and Philippines-based conglomerate Ayala will acquire ETelecare Global Solutions, the Philippines' largest provider of outsourced business services, for US$290 million. PEP focuses on investments in the media, entertainment, communications and information sectors and has invested approximately US$1 billion in the Asia Pacific region to date.

Onexim Group, one of Russia's largest private investment funds, will acquire a 50 percent stake in Renaissance Capital, a leading Russian investment bank, for US$500 million. Abu Dhabi-based International Petroleum Investment Company subsidiary Aztech Investments, Kazakh investment firm Ordabasy and Kazyna Capital Management, a unit of the Kazakhstan state sustainable development fund Kazyna, have established the Falah Growth Fund to invest in companies in Kazakhstan and the rest of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The fund is targeting US$600 million in commitments.
