Merrill Lynch & Co. has raised $2.65 billion for its first fund dedicated to Asian property investments. The Merrill Lynch Asian Real Estate Opportunity Fund will invest in property assets or property companies throughout the region, including China, India and South Korea. Private equity firm The Riverside Company has acquired UV-Vis Metrolab, an Argentine maker of chemistry analyzers. The acquisition is Riverside's first in South America and was made through Riverside Europe Fund III. Metrolab will merge with Diatron, a Hungarian developer, manufacturer and marketer of compact hematology analyzers for the human medical and veterinary markets.
